Bratislava...
03.07.2008
Our coach journey from Prague to Bratislava was 4 hours...we saw the most amazing sunset, we didn't really know much about the Czech Republic but the coach definately took us the scenic route, we drove through all the valleys and through small villages.....it really was the nicest coach journey so far.
When we arrived it was raining which we didn't enjoy with our shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops - we arrived at 12 noon and by 2 o'clock it was sunny and really hot and it stayed that way.
We spent most of the time relaxing in the centre, it is a city but it is really small and feels more like a town. It really is a beautiful place.
We spent one day sat by the river just relaxing...
There is a castle, but unfortunately it was closed...I think it reopens quite soon.
The hostel we were staying in was really nice, it was in an old building very near to the centre. They had instruments in the common area, so there was usually someone playing the guitar or piano....and everyone was really friendly. There was a live Jazz night put on in the bar with local band playing, they were really really good and now we want to join a jazz band...
We met loads of interesting people and one has decided to join us on our travels to Budapest...
We love Bratislava and Slovakia so we recommend that everyone goes if they are travelling Europe....there is a mountain range called the Tatras on the border with Poland that we really wanted to visit, but unfortunately we haven't had time...we will go one day though.
Slovakia is under-rated.....
